A New addition to Naogaon’s Film Culture: The short film ‘Tribhuban’

Through in the small town of Naogaon the film 'Tribhuban' created a buzz even before its release. It was screened on August 29, 2025 in the city of Naogaon. Its ability to engage a large audience across three screenings proves how deeply the local people have embraced this locally produced film! The Cinema halls were packed each time an unprecedented event in Naogaon's recent film culture.

Storyline and Directorial Style

The film's runtime is 58 minutes and 36 seconds. Story, direction and screenwriter Tahmidur Rahman Monon realized a dream by creating 'Tribhuban'. Centered around the simple yet powerful theme of the love between a father and his child the story captivated viewers from start to finish. The complete silence maintained during the screening attests to Director Monon's success and achievement!

Monon established that notwithstanding limited technology and financial constraints meaningful story-driven films can be made even from a small town. This will boost passion among local film enthusiasts and inspire promising filmmakers in other towns outside the capital to get involved in filmmaking.

Acting and Artistic Presentation

The cast included Assistant Professor Tamim Mahmud Siddique, theater artist Aslam Kumar Mahtab, Labiba Alam Rayta, Molla Imtiaz Ahmed Mridul and others. Their performances were natural and aligned well with the story. Particularly since local artists were involved the film gained a unique flavor. The art direction was handled by dramatist Raza Faqir who presented the film with a realistic feeling. The original song used in the film, "Kemne Debo Pari, Sunne Charidhar" (How Do I Give, Listen O Four Walls), sung by Enamul Haque Madhur amplified the emotional depth of the story.

Limitations and Future Expectations

However the film does have some limitations. Due to the lack of a high-quality sound studio some dialogue mixing issues were noticeable. But Still the film ultimately succeeded in moving the audience emotionally.

Audience reactions after the screening were very positive. Atikur Rahman Labu, who watched the film with his son, said, "It's a short film, but it feels like a full-length feature." He added that if the film were named "PREM (Love)," people would have packed the halls; if it were called "SONGRAM (Struggle)," it would suggest political figures. But since it's called 'Tribhuban,' curiosity ran high and that's the mark of its success!

D.M. Abdul Bari, president of the Ekushe Parishad Organization in Naogaon, shared his unique feeling after watching the film. He said, "In a time when the youth are confused by a wave of unrefined culture, Tahmidur Rahman Monon's 'Tribhuban' has brought a breath of fresh air to the district's cultural scene. We want the youth of Naogaon to be inspired by such films and step into filmmaking contributing to the development of a well culture in the district."

Asim Kumar Mandal watched the film with his daughter. His daughter asked, "Is there no electricity where they are?" The film's use of lamps and hurricane lamps prompted her question. The film provided the new generation with a indication of the past, this is its real achievement.

Mou Sumatra stated, "The 'Tribhuban' is a world of light and dreams. Cinema is not just meant to be watched but felt. We could feel the film, that is its achievement."

Celebrating this remarkable creation which transformed limitations into the impossible and added a healthy dimension to Naogaon's cultural scene such sentiments will be remembered by the people of Naogaon for a long time. Film critic Sabin Shahriar shared similar feelings about the film.

In Naogaon, after a long time, I have seen a cinema hall so packed with people enjoying something so intently. This was for Tahmidur Rahman Monon's first film, 'Tribhuban'. But when you sit down to watch it, you won't feel that it is his first work. It is truly surprising to think that in a place like Naogaon, where there are no professional cameramen, actors, a technical team or even a single production house how was it possible to make such a film? Monon has managed to create a 'Yes' from within this sea of 'No's. Cultural Activist Rabiul Karim expressed his feelings in this way.

'Tribhuban' has proven that films made around the soil and people of a small town can also be captivating, heartfelt and audience centric. It is hoped that in his future works director Tahmidur Rahman Monon will overcome all limitations and present even more full-length feature films. The audience awaits them eagerly.
